Frequently asked questions.

Got a question before you book? You’ll likely find the answer here. We’ve pulled together the things people ask us most about concrete supply, pump hire, liquid screed, same-day jobs, and the areas we cover across East Anglia. Have a read through and see if yours is covered. If it isn’t, don’t worry – drop us a line and we’ll get you a straight answer.

Concrete supply.

What types and grades of concrete do you supply?

We can arrange a wide range of concrete mixes for domestic, commercial and construction projects, including foundations, footings, floor slabs, driveways, paths and general structural applications. If you are unsure which mix you require, let us know what the concrete will be used for and we can help identify the appropriate option.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

Minimum quantities and small-load charges depend on the type of concrete, supplier and delivery location. Contact us with your postcode and approximate quantity and we will confirm the most suitable option.

What do you need to know to place an order?

We will normally need the site address and postcode, required date and preferred time, approximate quantity in cubic metres, concrete mix or intended use, site access information and whether a concrete pump is required. If a pump is needed, we will also ask for the approximate pump line length from where the pump can safely set up to the furthest point of the pour.

Liquid screed supply.

What is liquid screed?

Liquid screed is a flowing floor screed designed to create a smooth and level floor surface. It can be pumped into position and is commonly used for internal flooring projects.

What is liquid screed best used for?

Liquid screed is particularly suitable for larger floor areas and underfloor heating systems because it flows easily around pipework and provides a smooth, level finish.

How does liquid screed differ from standard concrete?

Standard concrete is generally used for structural applications such as foundations, slabs and external works. Liquid screed is primarily designed as a floor screed and has a more fluid consistency, allowing it to flow and level more easily.

How the process works.

How do I get started and book a pour?

Contact Link Direct Services with your site details, required quantity and preferred delivery date and time. We will check availability, confirm the price and arrange the concrete supply and concrete pump where required.

What happens on the day of delivery?

The concrete will arrive at the agreed site at the arranged time. If a concrete pump has been booked, the pump will be positioned and the required line set up ready for the pour. Please make sure the site is prepared, accessible and ready before the delivery arrives.

Do you offer same-day or out-of-hours pours?

Same-day, short-notice and out-of-hours pours may be available depending on supplier capacity, pump availability, location and the requirements of the job. Please contact us to check availability.

Delivery information.

Which areas do you deliver to?

We primarily cover Cambridge, Cambridgeshire and surrounding areas. We can also arrange deliveries further afield depending on the location, quantity and requirements of the project.

Browse the areas we cover to find out more.

How much notice do you need for a delivery?

We recommend booking as early as possible, particularly for larger pours or jobs requiring a concrete pump. Short-notice and same-day bookings may still be available depending on availability.

What site access does the pump need?

The pump needs a safe and suitable area to set up, with suitable access for the concrete delivery vehicle. Please tell us about narrow roads, restricted entrances, overhead cables, parking restrictions, soft ground or other access issues when booking. We will also need the approximate pipe or pump-line length required from the pump position to the furthest point of the pour, including any significant bends, level changes or difficult access.

How do I know how much pump line I need?

Measure approximately from where the pump can safely set up to the furthest point where the concrete needs to be placed. If you are unsure, send us the site details, measurements or photographs and we can help determine the suitable line length.

Order changes & cancellations.

Can I amend my order after booking?

Yes, in many cases we can amend the quantity, concrete mix, delivery time or pump requirements. Please contact us as soon as possible. Any changes are subject to concrete supplier and pump availability.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel or rearrange a booking. Cancellation charges may apply depending on the amount of notice given and whether costs have already been incurred for concrete, transport, pumping or other services. Full cancellation terms will be provided as part of the booking conditions.

What happens if I need more or less concrete than I ordered?

For mix-on-site concrete, you normally pay for the amount of concrete actually used, subject to any applicable minimum quantity or delivery charge. If you require additional concrete during the pour, the quantity can normally be increased provided the vehicle has sufficient materials available.

For ready-mix concrete, the ordered quantity is normally chargeable because it is produced specifically for your order. If additional concrete is required, we will try to arrange another delivery, subject to plant and vehicle availability.
